Benedict’s Street, Norwich, Norwich Arts Centre hosts a variety of live music events throughout the year from a mix of genres. It was also honoured with an EDP People’s Choice Award for best small to mid-scale venue, festival or organisation and the Dr Frank Bates Musical Theatre and Dance Award. Each year several concerts take place at Thetford Forrest and this summer it played host to The Script, Gary Barlow, Paul Heaton Jacqui Abbott and Kasabian. Thetford Forrest is an outdoor music venue hosting atmospheric concerts in a beautiful location surrounded by pine trees. You can see anything from poetry, comedy, bands, acoustic songwriters, soloists, duos, a choir or brass band. ![]() On a Monday night the Brickmakers host an open stage event where acts can perform. Enjoy anything from soul, to funk to indie to metal. The Brickmakers and B2 Venue are on Sprowston Road, Norwich and are live music venues that play host to bands and individuals 7 nights a week. Again, use the Main Car Park for dropping off and picking up. The area directly outside the LCR is generally cordoned off on gig nights. If attending a gig and arriving by car, park in the Main Car Park, a 2-minute walk from the LCR. Organised by the Student Union and open to the public, big names from the music industry have played at the LCR. On the University of East Anglia site, live gigs have been an important part of life in the region for many decades. The LCR, Norwich is an all standing venue that has a maximum capacity of 1550 for gigs and slightly higher for club nights. Over the past 25 years the Waterfront has played host to an illustrious list of internationally recognised artists including Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, The Proclaimers, Courtney Pine, Faithless, Elbow, Fun Lovin Criminals, Paul Weller, The Prodigy, John Mayall, Nirvana, Amy Winehouse, Pulp, and Stereophonics. The venue is keen to support local talent and regularly hosts events where local bands and individuals can perform. The Waterfront is a 700 capacity all-standing venue with a 14 and over age-limit for live gigs and over 18 limit for club nights. It is located on King Street, Norwich and is both a live music venue and nightclub, close to Norwich City Centre, the Riverside leisure complex and Norwich train station. Originally set up by Norwich City Council in 1990, The Union of UEA Students took over the running of the premises and it is today one of Norwich’s most popular live music destinations. Whatever your preferred genre, you are sure to find some live music at one of these Norfolk music venues. You can’t beat live music and in Norfolk there are some great music venues from large open-air concerts to pubs offering more intimate experiences.
